I received this interesting article about an Avon Park target drone that was found, recovered, and restored.  They incorrectly identified the engine as a Continental, rather than a McCullough, but the rest of the article is worthwhile.  I know that several of you have found drones.  Who knows, some of them may become future restorations.  Dennis
I couldn't get the article or link to upload??????  If you google military restores target drone, it should come up

After a quick search of the Moody Air Force Base sight I found the picture below, they really did a great job with this restoration.

The full article from the Moody website can be found here:

Here is another link to a Valdosta Daily Times article about the restoration:

The drone looks great. Great job the guy's did with the aluminum reconstruction of the drone, seeing nearly everything for the Airforce nowday's is composite. My hat is off to you. Best Regards, Keith

WOW, that really looks good. There is a junkyard up on HWY 301 near Starke that used to have a bunch of parts for them. As far as I know they have long since sold all the parts. These were from Capm Blanding I believe. The last time I was at Camp Blanding, they had moved the one they had mounted on a pole. Part of the mount has broken and the drone is kinds hanging off to one side, pretty sad to see.

Throw a saddle on it and I bet a Fighter Jock would try to fly it!

It is a beautiful restoration. Radioplane used to be next to Van Nuys Airport in the San Fernando Valley and eventually was bought by Northrop. I believe Marilyn Monroe worked there for a while during WWII.
