I drove past the crash scene shortly after it happened. There was smoke rising from the hillside but no visible flames. In the moment I didn't realize what I was looking at because it hadn't hit the news yet.

The cloud ceiling was very low that morning. Total overcast. I spent a few hours up at Saddle Rock Ranch and it was socked in with fog most of the time.

After bouncing this one off of a few helo people I am going to theorize a retreating blade stall from an attempt to climb to avoid terrain with a full load. 9 souls is a pretty full load for an S-76.
