Recently, I was looking for a prehistoric petroglyph site in the El Paso Mountains near Ridgecrest, California, when I stumbled across a piece of an airplane. It was made of aluminum and was probably almost 18 inches long and a little over six inches wide. It appeared to be part of a larger, multi-piece access panel. I could find no inspection stamps, but the part number looks like 186-31190. It does not appear to be associated with a crash site. Based on proximity to NAWS China Lake, I am guessing it's from a Navy plane. Any ideas?
