I was hoping someone else has more too, that is the whole reason I started this thread.

DaveTrojan, my only interest here is to correct any false claims.  This accident and crew are close to my heart, and there have been several falsehoods and suppositions made.  Unfortunately, after 32 years, remembering the facts is getting more and more difficult.

On another subject, do you have anything on the July 2, 1944 crash of B-24J 42-50780?  I have been to the crash site several times, and have tried to find crew-members families.  Found one, and took them to the site.  Was looking for that page when I came upon new posts on this page.

I was on one of the SAR teams that was involved in the search. I was not on the team that found the F-4, but visited the site after. I have no pictures but a vivid memory of the site.

In an effort to know more about this accident, I have posted the only pages from the official report that I have. They include page 1 and a few aerial photos.

That matches what I have. The coords on the cover sheet are close, but not perfect - the photos get you pinpointed.

I just saw the post about the base and bashing of Dino Martin. I can tell you that dude is full of shit.

He went to UPT at Columbus AFB, MS in the years 80-81 appx. His pilot training buddy USAFA Grad / Star Tennis player was Capt Bruce Willard. He and Bruce played tennis, did their long cross country flight to the Hollywood Guard as studs... staying at the Playboy club. He was dating Dorothy Hamill and she visited often.

How do I know this, Bruce was a check airman on the T-38 when I was a stud. He was also a pilot I flew with at Randolph AFB, Tx in 83-84 when I was being checked out as a T-38 IP. He and I chatted about his close relationship with Dino.

As an instructor who has trained with, trained ANG pilots, and been an ANG pilot.... they wouldn’t be Single Seat qualified if they weren’ FAR’d ( Fighter Attack Recon ) qual’d. So he was good pilot for sure and I’m sure got even better with time and experience.

So the next time you write something disparaging get your facts straight.
