I stumbled across some interesting info while looking at the bat guano mining operation at Grand Canyon West online. A local contractor in Kingman was a part of the construction of an aerial tram to mine bat guano in 1956 from the canyon. By 1960 it was all but done. Wikipedia says that the cable going across the canyon was clipped by a fighter jet "hotdogging" in the canyon. No year is given, I assume it was around 1960 or so. Any incident report on this? Evidently the aircraft was damaged but survived.
Got me curious.

I never could figure out what plane hit that cable either.  Couldn't find a serial # or report.

There's a neat, old movie called "Edge Of Eternity" that has some scary stunts on that cable car to the guano cave.  And nice views of Kingman, etc.

Thanks Chris, I'm going to check that out. My co-worker found a great 1956 color documentary about the construction of the tram system. Very impressive.
