Hi everyone. Hope some people are still on this thread. I just registered so that I can add my two cents to this. I spent 3 afternoons in the last couple of weeks looking for some wreckage in the woods on the edge of the golf course. A friend and I had seen a picture from around Thanksgiving 2019 of a small piece of wreckage sticking out of the ground but were unsuccessful in finding it. We did find one of the tires though. I'll attach some shots of that, and I did bring along a flag holder and flag. I did some quick research and I believe that the tire is from a B-47. With several of that aircraft and a B-52 beforehand and the tanker afterwards all crashing in roughly the same location at the golf course, I can't tell for certain which aircraft it's from. Ok, I tried to add the photo but apparently there is a 1MB size restriction here. I'll figure out how to add it later on.

Thanks for searching the area. Please compress the photo of the tire and post it. Are there any markings on the tire?

Hi --
I see that FindAGrave has information on 3 of the 4 that died in this crash.  How does that site work?  Do relatives enter in that information?  I am the daughter of the 4th crewman, Ronald Chapo.  I visited his grave with my mother in December when I was in MI in December.  Could have taken a picture then :-)

Hi Joanne,
If you want, I can create your Dad's memorial. I'm pretty active on that website. Or you're more than welcome to create it on your own.

Thanks Steve.  Next time I am back in MI (I live in CA now) I will visit the cemetary and take a picture to add to the web site.  Thanks for sharing the other information.

I always believed that something was left behind at the crash site. I would not have guessed that it was a wheel. Must be more buried there. Thanks again to all.

Thank you to Joanne for letting me create the memorial for her dad:

Rumor has it that the woods had quite a bit of wreckage back until the 1990s, when most of it was cleaned up. Pease AFB was on the BRAC list and was closed as an active duty base around 1994. It's possible that the Air Force came in around that time and took away what they wanted.

Approximate location of the tire:
