| #1 | World War II Navy Post Office Numbers (WW2 Coded Locations). I noticed that on some Navy accident reports the location of the accident at the time was classified and coded. Locations appeared as postal code abbreviations in order to keep unit locations classified. The mystery of the codes has been solved. I was able to locate the codes for all Navy locations. NAB stands for Naval Advance Base. Here are the codes for Navy base locations. see link at
http://www.bluejacket.com/usn-usmc_ww2_location-codes.html
Example: BM3/c John Paul Jones USNR NAB 131 FPO SF
Jones was located at the Naval Advanced Base at Noumea, New Caledonia. The Fleet Post Office for the Pacific is located in San Francisco, California. The Fleet Post Office for the Atlantic is located in New York, New York.
